Origin

Huntsman is a minor character in Disney's 1937 animated feature film "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". He serves the Evil Queen and is tasked with killing Snow White and bringing back her heart as proof.

After learning from the Magic Mirror that Snow White is the fairest of them all, the jealous Queen summons the Huntsman to her castle. She orders him to take the princess deep into the forest and end her life. Though hesitant, the Huntsman is forced to comply when the Queen reminds him of what happens if he disobeys her. To prove Snow White's death, he is given a box, which he must place the girl's heart in.

Following his orders, the Huntsman leads Snow White to a secluded glade where she happily picks wildflowers. As she helps a lost baby bird reunite with its parents, he silently draws his dagger and prepares to strike. However, when she turns and sees his shadow, she gasps in fear. Overcome with guilt, the Huntsman drops his dagger, unable to go through with the act. Falling to his knees, he tearfully begs for forgiveness and warns Snow White of the Queen's deadly jealousy. He tells her to run away, and she escapes deeper into the forest, eventually finding shelter in the seven dwarfs' cottage.

Later, the Queen receives the heart box and believes Snow White is dead. However, when she consults the Magic Mirror, she learns the truth—the heart inside belongs to a pig. Enraged at the Huntsman's betrayal, she storms into her laboratory, determined to take matters into her own hands. While the Queen ultimately meets her demise before exacting revenge, the Huntsman's fate remains unknown. It is possible that he fled the kingdom, knowing his life was at risk.
