Origin

The Dapper Dans, a charismatic barbershop quartet, bring lively performances to Main Street, U.S.A. Their harmonious tunes have graced the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland since 1971 and 1959 respectively. Formerly, they enchanted audiences at Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland.

However, on March 12, 2020, the show faced a temporary halt due to the far-reaching impact of the COVID-19 outbreak in Florida and California. The original version of the performance took a pause at Disneyland and Magic Kingdom. Thankfully, the curtain rose again. Following the reopening of Disneyland Resort on September 2, 2021, an updated rendition of the show marked its return. Magic Kingdom followed suit on March 18, 2022, as part of the grand celebration of Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary.

The Dapper Dans, known for their distinctive outfits (red, blue, purple, and yellow, sometimes a hint of green), form a quartet that blends tenor, lead, baritone, and bass harmonies. Surprisingly, despite their quartet formation, around twelve performers take turns in these roles.

In the "Magic Kingdom", their schedule includes nine daily sets, seven days a week. With a flair for entertainment, they can be found on a horse-drawn trolley in the morning, then traversing Main Street throughout the day.

The Dapper Dans change their outfits based on the season, which depends on holidays and festivals. During July 4, their costumes echo the American flag's hues. Halloween introduces the "Cadaver Dans," garbed in white and orange, embracing a ghoulish persona. Sinister tunes fill the air, including "This is Halloween" and "Grim Grinning Ghosts." Festive attire and yuletide songs take center stage during the December holidays. These characters appear in various different places as well. A cameo in "Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway" showcases their charm in anthropomorphic dog forms. Another example of their cameo would be "The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse".

Even though these characters are real human beings, they are often depicted in a cartoon form, and that is how they have been added to Disney Speedstorm, wearing their famous hats and smiling.
