Speed Boost, mostly used as Manual Boost, is one of the essential game mechanics in Disney Speedstorm. It allows Racers to increase their speed for a short period of time to gain advantage and overtake other Racers while using nitro fuel.
The rate of nitro consumption changes with upgrading character levels due to increasing the Boost statistics.

Manual Boost
Manual Boost is the main way to activate extra speed after the Speed Boost Bar has been filled. By pressing a Manual Boost button players activate the usage of nitro fuel, and the bar on top of the screen starts moving.
Speed Boost Bar

The Speed Boost Bar is a blue horizontal indicator on the top of the screen that gets filled up in the course of the race. As soon as it reaches the maximum, the player can press a button to get extra speed for a short period of time.
There are a total of 5 different ways to fill in the bar:
- Drifting
- Skills
- Mid-Air tricks
- Speed Pads
- Grind Pipe
While Drifting might be the main way to fill in the bar and fly forward, other small things can also be of huge help. Racers like Baloo can use their Unique Skill and leave fruits on the ground which fill in the Speed Boost Bar on pick-up.

Mid-Air tricks can also assist as you will get a tiny bonus upon landing. To do a trick you simply need to press your Drifting key while being in the air.

Speed Pads are probably the most noticeable part of a racing track as players meet them everywhere along the way. Those circles on the background with arrows on them are extremely powerful in terms of speeding players up. Driving onto them both pushes you forward right away (for all classes) and fills in your Speed Boost Bar (only for Speedsters).

Grind Pipes are great Speed Boost helpers. These narrow dark-blue side rails can be found on mostMaps, and you will quite often see people clash on them in attempts to get the desirable speed push. To get onto a Grind Pipe the player simply needs to press their jump button to hop onto the rail, and the Speed Boost Bar will slowly start filling in. However, be careful, railing makes you vulnerable towards any sneak attacks of your opponents! If any of them uses a skill, you might get stunned and kicked off the rail!
Extra ways to gain Speed Boost
- Brawlers gain nitro fuel to fill in their Speed Boost Bar by bumping into others.
- In Last One Standing mode players get extra push forwards by activating the protection from hostile drones shooting the Racer on the last position. This push is given only 2 (3 for Defenders) times in the game in order to overcome rivals and prevent being eliminated.
- Boost allows players to instantly get nitro fuel (or slowly over time), fill in the Speed Boost Bar and activate the extra speed.
- Staying upright on the Grind Pipe pushes the player forwards filling in the Boost Bar while the push lasts. Swinging right and left while sliding on the Grind Pipe gives extra Nitro Fuel.
- Staying on other Racers' Slipstream fills in the Speed Boost Bar with nitro fuel.
- Mickey Mouse's Unique Skill Trailblazer pushes him forwards ignoring obstacles and other Racers. Other characters can also speed themselves up by getting on Mickey's trail. There are a few more characters whose special skill can give them a push forward or speed them/others up, check out the Skills page.
- Teleport does not give a Speed Boost per se but it pushes the Racer forward in order to catch up with the rivals.
- Rush also pushes the Racer forward.
Nitro Fuel Bottles
Blue Bottles or Nitro Fuel Bottles are a game mechanics in Disney Speedstorm. They fill in Speed Boost Bar allowing players to go faster.
Starting in Season 10, any Racer that is not actively granting a Slipstream bonus because there are no rival Racers in close enough proximity to them for a period of 5 seconds, begins to spawn Nitro Fuel bottles directly behind them on the track every few seconds. Any other rival player can pick up these Nitro Fuel bottles which will fill their Manual Boost Bar, helping them to catch up to those in front of them. Nitro Fuel bottles cannot be seen or picked up by the Racer who spawned them nor can they be picked up by teammates in Team Mode races.[1]
