Slipstreaming is a game mechanics in Disney Speedstorm. Driving right behind another player allows a Racer to gradually gain nitro fuel, fill in their Speed Boost Bar and activate Manual Boost. All Racers can benefit from using it, therefore it can be considered a passive ability.
Upgrade level, star tier, character rarity and Crew Members equipped DO NOT affect the way Speed Boost Bar is filled while Slipstreaming. The distance to the other player DOES NOT matter either.
Terminology
Slipstreaming, also known as drafting, is a technique used in racing games to gain a speed advantage over opponents. It involves following closely behind another vehicle, which reduces air resistance and allows the following vehicle to travel at a faster speed. This tactic is especially useful on straightaways, where the slipstream effect can make a significant difference in lap times. Timing and precision are key when attempting to slipstream, as one wrong move could lead to a costly collision.
Classes
As mentioned previously, all Racers are able to gain nitro fuel by staying right behind their rivals. Without any difference in levels and without additional buffs, all classes take approximately 3-6 seconds to fill their Speed Boost Bar from 0 to maximum while staying behind their rivals. However, it is important to point out that always staying behind someone can be quite difficult as everyone moves differently, which might affect the time.
Defenders get double nitro fuel while Slipstreaming, which is why they need the least amount of time to fill up the Speed Boost Bar.
After activating Manual Boost, the nitro fuel starts getting used up very quickly, which can be slowed down by hitting a Boost Pad or Drifting (for all classes).
| After some field testing, we have calculated approximate time that is required for each class to gain Speed Boost while staying on slipstream non-stop (which may vary due to different routes players take, skills, drifting involved, and so on). |

- Defender Class duration: 2.591 seconds.
- Speedster Class duration: 4.674 seconds.
- Brawler Class duration: 5 seconds.
- Trickster Class duration: 6 seconds.
Slipstreaming can allow Racers to keep their nitro level intact regardless of their class, however, it might prove to be difficult due to different speed and routes that every player chooses, as well as the danger of being stunned by a Skill when staying close behind.
